Formatting and Recycling Memory Cards

August 23, 2021

00:00
hello everybody it's julia with julia
00:02
mae photography and today i'm recycling
00:04
memory cards
00:09
so here we are let's get started
00:12
recycling some of these cards that i
00:13
have
00:14
we've got my case my camera the cards
00:17
and this is the case that i like to use
00:19
it's a nice waterproof case
00:22
and all the cards fit in there nicely
00:25
and this is the brand of the case and
00:27
i'll put that in the comments below
00:29
and
00:30
um
00:32
so we'll get started with
00:34
um
00:36
recycling and this is the
00:37
this is the card that i like the best
00:39
the scan disk pro
00:41
pro
00:42
scan disk pro
00:44
so each one fits into
00:47
my dual slot system and i always have
00:49
make copies of every
00:51
photo that i take so my one card
00:54
in case one card fails i've got enough
00:56
for the others so then they just slide
00:58
right in
00:59
and
01:00
get in this second card here
01:03
and oops it's oops some backwards
01:07
flip it around
01:09
get that slit in
01:10
there and
01:14
close the lid
01:21
okay
01:26
next turn the camera on
01:28
and then we're going to get into the
01:30
menu and find the format memory card
01:34
and i'm going to click
01:37
format memory card
01:40
and i'm gonna try it again here
01:48
okay then we got one slot one
01:51
and we're going to click
01:53
that yes we do want to reformat the card
01:55
even though it's going to delete all the
01:56
images that are on there
01:58
okay next we're going to
02:00
do the next
02:02
memory card of slot
02:04
slot 2
02:06
and
02:07
delete that memory card
02:10
yep again
02:11
and now both of those memory cards are
02:15
um
02:18
formatted for the camera
02:21
and
02:22
take them back out
02:30
just like
02:34
that and then i keep them in this case
02:40
and they just slide right on in
02:48
just like that i'm going to take this
02:50
one back out
02:53
put them in together
03:00
and
03:02
next we'll just load the case up and now
03:04
you can see i've got them organized
03:06
so that i've got my largest one with
03:09
smaller ones behind it
03:12
then that way if i want to i can
03:15
reorganize those
03:17
and have them in order to go along with
03:18
the bigger card that i'm using and
03:20
that's it
03:22
and this will be enough cards now to
03:24
last me through to sometime next year
03:27
and i'm using cards that i now have
03:29
backed up
03:30
on several hard drives and
03:33
they're also from very old sessions so
03:35
it is time to say goodbye to those old
03:38
photos and
03:42
get them used again
03:45
so
03:46
hope that helps bye
